Thanksgiving

I’m different from most people around Thanksgiving. I don’t think so much about what I have, even though that I am thankful. I tend to think about the people that don’t have. The guy sitting in his one bedroom apartment eating a turkey tv dinner by himself. The family thats not even sure how they are going to eat today much less Thankgiving. These are the people Thanksgiving is about. Native Americans helped the Pilgrims because they were struggling, and the Pilgrims were thankful.

I also think about how things used to be. The whole family crammed into the house just sitting around enjoying seeing each other. Personally, I don’t see this anymore. My family doesn’t speak to each other because of petty shit, that in the greater scope of things doesn’t even matter at all. Thanksgiving  is supposed to be a time for joy with your family. With my mother and grandmother gone, my great aunt in the later stages of life, its up to my generation and honestly we have failed miserably. With the uncertain times we live in, this is what we should do, we should all come together and sit around a meal and just enjoy each other. We should all cherish those moments together because you never know who won’t be sitting at the table with you next year…..
